Are you 50+, active, love the outdoors, and enjoy meeting other people?

If so, join the City of Albuquerque's Department of Senior Affairs and New Mexico Kayak Instruction for a 2-part Kayaking lesson this fall.

Part 1 takes place in an indoor heated pool, where you'll learn basic paddling technques, such as how to handle a capsize, how to re-enter a dry boat from deep water in 1-minute or less, and how to make your boat glide effortlessly across the water.

Part 2 takes place on the scenic Rio Grande Bosque, in Albuquerque's own backyard.  In this 4hr lesson and guided tour, you'll learn how to read the river for subtle clues on where the river is deeper or shallower, faster or slower, even spot hidden dangers that may be below the surface, or downstream, out of sight.

The Fall 2013 trip will coincide with the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta.  On most days, the balloons soar overhead and often Splash 'n' Dash within a few feet of our kayaks.  However, on every day, you're guaranteed views of the changing Fall colors in the Rio Grande Bosque against scenic views of the Sandia Mountains, migrating water fowl and other wildlife, up close and personal.

"I am impressed with organization and professionalism of Kelly's
operation.  The teaching methods are good and are reassuring to the
extent they convey that the ability to kayak is within the reach for
just about anybody (including not-so-young people like me!)"
Betsy Glenn (57), Santa Fe

Classes begin September 3rd, in preparation for the Rio Grande River Trip in October.

"This is without a doubt the best outdoor class I have ever taken. Kelly
and his team are totally skilled as teachers. I plan to sign up for every
class I can with this team. My enjoyment and skill level immediately
improved after one day. I didn't realize I was using body memory from
paddling a canoe many years ago that were not good practice with a
kayak. Take these classes! They're a great return on investment and a
whole lot of fun besides!"
