Intro to Kayak, New Mexico Kayak Instruction, Inc.

Introduction to Kayaking is a 6-hour course teaching you the skills needed to paddle any type of kayak on flat water. This includes sit on tops, recreational, touring, whitewater and inflatable kayaks. The complete course consists of a 2-hour "Classroom" and a 4-hour "Pool" lesson and kayak demo.

Classroom is a 2hr discussion that includes an overview of modern whitewater, recreational and touring hull designs, appropriate equipment, dressing to paddle safely and avoiding potential paddling hazards.

At the end of the classroom discussion, you'll know the pros and cons of each boat design and modern equipment, so you're able to properly choose a kayak for the type of paddling you wish to pursue.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes.  A lot of great material is covered in the classroom, and you'll learn a lot by attending or repeating the classroom lessons (and they're FREE!!).  However, the classroom material is completely independent of the pool lesson.  It doesn't matter which one you attend first.
