River-boarding is arguably the most fun you can have on class III whitewater! Why? Because a raft just plows over the waves and you barely get wet....and it may take weeks of dedicated practice in a kayak to become comfortable on Class III whitewater. On a river board, you're part of the water. You feel the river's power, and it's playfulness on every wave, and yet have far more control than you would in a raft and more stability than in a kayak.
New Mexico's Rio Grande Racecourse is an ideal river-board training ground! With 2 miles of class II warmup, followed by 2 miles of continuous class III whitewater, including Albert's Falls, Herring Bone, The Narrows, Rock Garden and Big Rock, all prepare you for the 2 mile wrap-up, which includes two of the biggest Class III rapids on the Racecourse; Sleeping Beauty and Souse Hole!
