Balloon Fiesta Kayak Tour
I took the Intro to Kayaking (level 1) class and it was GREAT. I'd actually done a
lot of different types of kayaking (touring, sea, whitewater), but had
never gotten any formal instruction. Wow, what a difference a few hours
makes. I learned a lot of technique that
I had been lacking. Kelly is a great instructor and I was impressed
with how efficiently the class was put together. He is passionate about
enabling people to participate in the sport that he loves. Definitely
recommend this class to anyone interested in learning to kayak!

My girl approached the class as 'something my dad signed me up for and I don’t want to go', but she had a blast and wants to do it again.
HIGHLY recommend this course to anyone interested even in local overnight kayaking adventures! Totally loved it!!

Kelly is a great instructor. If you live in the Albuquerque area and want to learn kayaking, attend one of Kelly's classes.
I learned the "basics" that I "thought" I knew - after kayaking for 10 years, I realized I should have taken this course years ago…in addition to the "basics" I was amazed at the techniques I learned regarding paddling, strokes, maneuvers, rescues, navigation and expedition planning!

It's not about kayaking...it's about overcoming fears, building courage and self confidence!
Kelly is a great instructor. He starts with the basics and keeps
building on from there. We started in a pool of calm water on the
river, as we became comfortable with that we moved closer to the moving
water, then into the main current working on peel outs, ferrying and
edging, then down the Rio Grande. The second day starts by talking
about the first day then on to paddle placement and timing in different
aspects of the river. Back on the river we fine tuned our peel outs,
ferrying, edging and worked on paddle placement as we go into and
through the rapids. I could not belive my improvement from day one to
day two!
I highly recommed this class if you want to feel comfortable with
negotiating class II and III rapids. You may not end up an expert but
will have the tools to become one.

Very informative class. Just the ticket to lay the foundation for starting out in kayaking.
I just took Kelly's Intro to Kayaking class at the Chavez Center in Santa Fe and really enjoyed it. He was able to work with all levels (I'd never been in a kayak with the skirt on before) and even helped me overcome my fears after the initial freakout of being strapped to my boat underwater. Great teacher, I'm looking forward to the roll class!
(Level 2) The Kayak Roll
I have taken the Intro, Roll, and the Whitewater Weekend courses. They've all been informative, supportive, and fun. It has been a progressive
learning process and I do like your emphaisis on offensive paddling
rather than defensive paddling. The Intro to Kayak (Level 1) class is a perfect foundation. I am probably going
to retake the Intro class because there was a lot in there that I just could
not absorb at one time; WAY beyond an 'intro' class!
Kelly is a great instructor. If you live in the Albuquerque area and want to learn kayaking, attend one of Kelly's classes.
(Level 2) The Kayak Roll
Felt that my attempts at the roll are getting better. Kelly's instruction is valuable and very precise. I think he will help me get the roll done right.
I took Kelly's Intro to Kayaking class and an individual Roll class. Kelly was great. He is a very gracious teacher, always trying to individualize his teaching to each student. I learned how to roll and hand-roll in one Roll Class session. He is very personable and he was accommodating to my busy schedule. Additionally, his passion for kayaking really shows. I look forward to kayaking with him in the future.
(Level 1) Introduction to Kayaking - Whitewater and Recreational
This is without a doubt the best outdoor class I have ever taken. Kelly
and his team are totally skilled as teachers. I plan to sign up for every
class I can with this team. My enjoyment and skill level immediately
improved after one day. I didn't realize I was using body memory from
paddling a canoe many years ago that were not good practice with a
kayak. Take these classes! They're a great return on investment and a
