Start Time:
Thursday, February 9, 2012 - 6:00pm - 7:30pm

I'm often asked "How do I teach my kids to kayak?  What age should they start kayaking?  How do I teach them to have fun and to not be afraid?  How do I keep them interested?  Where do I find other parents and families to paddle with??"  Kayaking 4 Kids will answer all of these questions, and many more.  Kayaking is something the whole family can do together.  When introduced correctly, your kids will look forward to paddling with enthusiasm and excitement!

We'll watch and discuss the recently released instructional video "Paddle Monsters."  This video includes two sections;

  • A section for parents on how to introduce your kids to the sport of kayaking, and
  • An instructional section for kids, taught by kids!

After reviewing the video, we'll have time for questions and answers and general discussions.

This class is for Parents, Scout Leaders, Youth Group Leaders, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents....and of course, Kids!

Special thanks to New Mexico Kayak Instruction and Kelly Gossett for a great weekend up in Pilar last month for the beginner lesson on the white water. My family had a fantastic time. Pictured is my 12 year old son who is profound deaf paddling the river. Kelly truly is a master kayak instructor that can teach at all levels of ability and provide hours of fun for the whole family.
